What is scam-filtering?
Scam-filtering is our term for the process of flagging your emails with [Scam Warning] if we think you're having a conversation with a scammer.
Why do I need to use a TrustMe.com email address?
Our scam filtering algorithm works best when scammers send their emails directly to a TrustMe.com email address. We forward everything to your regular email address so it's not inconvenient for you.
How does TrustMe.com know when to mark a message with [Scam Warning]?
As your emails pass through our servers, we cross references dozens of pieces of information from them with our scam database to see if there are any matches.
What kinds of scams can TrustMe.com identify?
Email-based scams are our speciality.
What should I do when I see [Scam Warning] in a message subject?
Stop the dialog. If you don't agree with our opinion, please let us know by forwarding the email to support@trustme.com, we'll take a closer look.
If [Scam Warning] isn't in a message subject, does that mean that it's definitely not from a scammer?
No. It means that we don't have anything in our database that indicates that they're a scammer. It's a 24/7 job to keep our database up to date, and we're getting better at it every day.
Can I use my TrustMe.com address with a marketplace other than Craigslist?
Absolutely. Our scam-filtering email address will work anywhere.
Why does TrustMe.com focus on Craigslist?
Craigslist is the most popular classified ad website, several times larger than it's next biggest competitor.
